Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaissance Project

Welcome to the website of the Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaissance (BVAR) Project! 

 

The project is directed by Belizean archaeologist Dr. Jaime Awe (Northern Arizona University), Dr. Julie Hoggarth (Baylor University), and Dr. Claire Ebert (University of Pittsburgh). The Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaissance (BVAR) Project conducts archaeological research at ancient Maya sites throughout central Belize, with long-term investigations at several major centers and surrounding communities. During the 2027 field season, research will focus on excavations at Baking Pot and Yaxox.
